MUSIC & OPERA SINGERS TRUST PRESENTS MUSICA LIRICA
A free public event as part of the 2017 Inner West Festival, Musica Lirica will showcase the finest young opera singers performing popular Italian arias accompanied by piano in the Leichhardt Town Hall, right in the heart of Sydney’s Italian district.
The event will celebrate the importance of Italian culture for all Australians and showcase the incredible operatic talent our country produces. All the performers are previous winners or entrants in the Australian Singing Competition (ASC), Australasia’s most prestigious competition for classical singing. Guests will enjoy and evening of Italian operatic music including arias from famous Italian operas such as La Traviata, La Boheme, The Barber of Seville, Tosca, The Marriage of Figaro, and Madame Butterfly.
“The Singing Competition has been the launchpad for so many brilliant careers, MUSICA LIRICA is your chance to hear some of those wonderful voices singing some of the most popular repertoire” says highly acclaimed and awarded soprano Emma Matthews.
Performing on the night will be:
Sarah Ampil, soprano (ASC Semi-Finalist 2016); Brad Cooper, tenor (ASC Finalist 2002); Jessica Harper, soprano (ASC Finalist 2014); Sitiveni Talei, baritone (ASC Winner 2008); Nicholas Tolputt, counter tenor (ASC Winner 2016)
Accompanying the singers will be esteemed pianist, Bradley Gilchrist
Our compere will be 2017 Opera Awards Winner Adrian Tamburini
