The ABC Young Performers Awards (YPA) has long been regarded as Australia’s premier national artist development programme for young Australian musicians, instrumentalists and performing artists. Throughout its history the YPA has been renowned for its ability to identify and nurture talented young Australian musicians. The musician who claims the title of Young Performer of the Year will have proved themselves outstanding in all areas of musical performance, demonstrating high technical proficiency, an understanding of the repertoire and an appreciation of musical style.
Since its inception in 1944, and over its 72-year history the YPA has been presented in many formats. For nearly 20 years Symphony Australia has presented the YPA in collaboration with the national broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
MOST® has been involved with the YPA since 2001 when MOST® was appointed to manage the Vocal Segment of the Instrumental and Vocal Competition (the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards). In April 2016, Symphony Services International (Symphony Australia) selected MOST® to take carriage of the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards (YPA). The ABC will be the Broadcast & Media Partner promoting the next generation of Australia’s best musicians, instrumentalists and performing artists.
With a long history in developing and managing programmes in the the classical music arena, MOST® looks forward presenting this prestigious artist development programme and competition. The ongoing partnerships with the ABC and ABC Classic FM will ensure the continuing promotion and development of the next generation of Australia’s best musical talent.
